In a study on car insurance prices in Johnson, Kansas, Raltin found that the cheapest premiums are paid by 55-year-old male drivers and the most expensive premiums are incurred by 16-year-old male drivers.

Vehicle type, deductible value, coverage limit, and driver background are some of the factors significantly influencing car insurance premiums. For this survey, Raltin applied the following criteria: coverage limit for bodily injury per person and bodily injury per accident are $100,000 and $300,000, coverage limit for property damage per accident is $100,000, and comprehensive and collision deductible is $1,000. The vehicle studied is a 2013 Toyota Camry, four-door sedan.

The survey revealed that for 16-year-old male drivers, who generally pay expensive premiums in Johnson, Allied Property and Casualty Insurance offers the median premium at $1,758. Progressive Direct Insurance quotes the most expensive at $6,139.

Female drivers of the same age group incur the second-most expensive premiums. Here as well, Allied offers the median premium for this category at $1,421. Progressive offers the most expensive quote for this cohort at $5,543.

Next, 55-year-old male drivers generally pay the cheapest premiums in the city. The lowest price is $201 and offered by USAA General Indemnity. The median price is by Geico Secure Insurance at $411. The second-cheapest premium at $204 and again offered by USAA is incurred by 55-year-old female drivers. Allstate Fire and Casualty Insurance offers the median premium for this category at $393.

Raltin also calculates the potential savings by evaluating the difference between the 75th and 25th percentiles in insurance premiums. For 16-year-old male drivers, this difference is the highest at $1,223 (104.98%). The second highest savings are reported by 16-year-old female drivers at $1,165 (108.37%).
